This film got mixed reviews from audiences, but holy crap, it is one of the funniest movies I've seen in years. Off-colored humor with heart. Strangers with Candy.

Reviewer: Raff D. Hall "Teamlatex" (Los Angeles)

Out of prison & unleashed on Flatpoint once again, for the first time. A prequel to the best politically incorrect TV comedy perhaps ever (at least besides All In the Family). Laughs galore as Jerri tries to adjust to life outside the harsh penal system. It is not easy, especially for everyone inside Jerri's "chow zone". You may take a beating or perhaps loose a finger, but Jerri is loyal to her bitches. If anyone messes with her friends, she'll stick 'em with a shive in the showers. Violent slapstick, vulgar sexual content and other delights await.

Buy it on Amazon.

Just Not Right
with Jake Cordova and Erin Hatch.

FAQ sheet

What is a podcast? A podcast is like Tivo for radio. Anyone can download a free mp3 file from the internet and listen to it at their leisure on a notebook or home computer, on an iPod, etc. A podcast can even be burned onto a CD.  It's 100% FREE!

Why did they start podcasting? Jake started out "solo" doing more of a confessional show. But once his ex-wife, Erin, co-hosted on episode #3, it was obvious she needed to stay. Jake and Erin became an instant hit. Their chemistry made each episode engaging and energetic. The listeners loved it. Though life caught up with the divorced duo and stopped Erin from appearing on every episode, she still makes a guest appearance from time to time along with friends and family members. Jake and Erin might be divorced, but their friendship lives on.

What is the show about? Jake discusses a variety of topics that range from living in Utah to being divorced. Some past discussions include: Dave's Insanity Sauce, religion, atheism, coping with Type-1 Diabetes, dating, Trolley Square, "The Secret," and Erasure. The goal is for listeners to become part of the conversation. A newly added segment called "Letters from a Utah Nut" features listeners reading nutty letters aloud. The letters are written to various businesses and some of the responses are hilarious! One letter to R.C. Willey requested permission to climb their giant company sign located in front of the West Valley City store. The response was immediate. (No climbing the sign allowed!)

When did the show start? The first show aired on March 9th, 2006. More than 50 episodes ago.

What equipment do they use? After show #3, Jake got serious and purchased an Olympus DS-2 Digital Voice Recorder. It's smaller than a cell phone and it records in stereo. Sometimes the show is recorded on location around the valley. Other times, the show is recorded at home in Murray using a notebook computer. Each episode is edited by Jake who uses free software called Audacity. The end result is surprisingly professional.

Who are their listeners (how many are there)? The show currently generates more than 500 downloads per episode. Most of the listeners are from the U.S., including many from Utah. The show reaches listeners in Canada, Europe, and Australia. "That's the beauty of podcasting, anyone in the world can listen." Says Jake.

How long does it take to produce an episode? Each show is typically recorded "live" in 30-45 minutes. It takes another hour or two writing the show notes and adding music. When it's done, the MP3 file is uploaded to a website where anyone with an internet connection can download it and listen to it.

How do people subscribe? Each numbered episode can be found at notRIGHTpodcast.com as well as a "Subscribe with iTunes" button. Jake says:

Welcome to Toad's Hollow, a place of wickedness where the air is prickly and bittersweet. Evil things come here to rest while bad dreams come here to die. It's said some things don't happen if they can't be explained. Some people want to believe there's a reason for everything. Maybe that's because some people don't live in Toad's Hollow. But if you're some of the people who do live here, you know it's best to sometimes keep your mouth shut. After all, if you can't explain it, maybe it didn't really happen… Even if you did lie in bed at night thinking about it, biting the edge of your pillow to keep from screaming, shutting your eyes so tight you see stars, maybe the thing crawling after you never existed. …maybe.

Hey everybody!

This is just a quick note to correct an incorrect statement from my last podcast. When I talked about another podcast show called MASHUP, I mentioned a musical group called "Iron Monkey." Well, the actual name of the band is "ARCTIC MONKEYS." (Yeah, I screwed up, but I was kinda close.) Anyway, check out their website and stuff:

http://www.arcticmonkeys.com/

They will play Saturday Night Live on March 11th! Killer!!

Keep it realistic,
- Jake

Hey folks!

I love finding random podcasts, and yesterday I found a glorious one indeed! BLARM!

Blarm is the voice of a 28 year-old Canadian lassie who sings crazy songs and talks about her daily life. Check it out if you're into "...songs about poo and songs about pee."

*Note- Even though her theme song leads you to believe there are songs about poo and pee, I have yet to hear any. The closest she comes to it is talking about her boyfriend's disgusting farts. Nice!

-- End of shameless plug. --

In other news, I've purchased a new digital mic for my computer. That means the next RareOOP podcast will sound crystal clear. Ooooohhh...

And, branching out, be ready to hear future podcasts of my online stories. Starting with Toad's Hollow. Won't that be fun?

Hey you, leave a comment!

Until next time,
- Jake
